The CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion is a lightweight, oil-free night moisturiser in an 89ml pump bottle — and on ingredient order alone, it is the best-constructed facial formula CeraVe makes. Niacinamide sits fourth of only twenty-four ingredients. The three essential ceramides sit seventh, eighth and ninth. Everything that matters is above the preservative line.

We say that having read the official ingredient list for every CeraVe product on this site. Most brands put their hero active near the bottom and hope nobody checks. This one does not, and it deserves credit for it.

What the CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion Is

The CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion is a thin, fast-absorbing white lotion for night use. CeraVe describes it as delivering continuous hydration through the night, helping restore the skin barrier and calming the skin. It is suitable for all skin types and is oil-free, fragrance-free, paraben-free and non-comedogenic.

One thing to be clear about before anything else: there is no SPF in it. The CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion is the night product. The AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion is the one with sunscreen. People buy the wrong bottle constantly, and going out in Dhaka sun believing you are protected is an expensive mistake.

Ceramides, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and MVE technology in the CeraVe PM lotion

Full Official Ingredient List

The CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion contains twenty-four ingredients, exactly as CeraVe publishes them, in order:

Aqua / Water / Eau, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Niacinamide, Cetearyl Alcohol, Potassium Phosphate, Ceramide NP, Ceramide AP, Ceramide EOP, Carbomer, Dimethicone, Ceteareth-20, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Cholesterol, Phenoxyethanol, Disodium EDTA, Dipotassium Phosphate, Caprylyl Glycol, Phytosphingosine, Xanthan Gum, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, Ethylhexylglycerin.

Why This Ingredient Order Is Unusually Good

Niacinamide at 4

Fourth of twenty-four, ahead of the emulsifiers and ahead of the ceramides. In most moisturisers that name niacinamide on the front, it sits tenth or lower. Here it is a genuine component of the formula, not a label claim. Niacinamide supports the barrier, helps reduce transepidermal water loss and calms the skin.

Ceramides at 7, 8 and 9

Three consecutive positions, all well above phenoxyethanol at seventeenth. Combined with cholesterol at sixteenth and phytosphingosine at twenty-first, the CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion carries a complete barrier-lipid system rather than a token ceramide.

A short list, which is the point

Twenty-four ingredients is lean for a moisturiser. Fewer ingredients means fewer things to react to, and it means each one that made the cut is there for a reason. There is no fragrance, no essential oil, no plant extract, no colourant. For sensitive skin that is an advantage, not a shortfall.

Glycerin at 2, hyaluronic acid at 15

Glycerin is doing most of the humectant work. Sodium hyaluronate is present and useful but sits mid-list — treat the hyaluronic acid marketing on any product as supporting information, not the headline.

Genuinely oil-free

Unlike some products marketed that way, this one holds up: read the twenty-four ingredients and there is no plant oil, no mineral oil, no ester oil beyond the caprylic/capric triglyceride that forms the light emollient base. The occlusive work is done by dimethicone, an inert silicone.

Who the CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion Is For

Oily and combination skin that still needs hydration. The most common gap in Bangladeshi routines. This is light enough not to feel heavy and oil-free.
Retinol and acid users. Niacinamide plus a full ceramide system is close to an ideal recovery moisturiser to layer over an active.
Sensitive skin. Twenty-four ingredients, no fragrance, no botanical extracts.
Anyone in a humid climate who hates heavy creams. Applies thin, absorbs fast, no film.
People who want niacinamide without a separate serum. At the fourth position, this delivers it in a moisturiser step.

Who should look elsewhere: very dry or dehydrated skin in winter may find the CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion too light on its own — the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is the richer option there. And anyone wanting a daytime moisturiser needs the AM version with SPF, not this one.

How to Use It

CeraVe’s official direction: “Apply liberally to the face and neck at night, or as directed by a physician.”

Night only. No SPF in the formula, so it does nothing to protect you in daylight.
Last step, after everything else. Cleanse, tone, treat, then the CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion to seal it in.
One to two pumps for face and neck. It spreads far. Most people over-apply and waste it.
Over a retinol, not under it. Applying it first buffers the retinol and reduces its effect.
Do not forget the neck. CeraVe explicitly includes it, and it is the area people skip for a decade and then regret.

PM vs AM vs the Moisturizing Cream

Three CeraVe moisturisers, constantly confused in this market. The differences are real and buying the wrong one wastes money.

PM Facial Lotion	AM Facial Lotion	Moisturizing Cream
SPF	None	Broad spectrum	None
When	Night	Morning	Either, face or body
Weight	Light lotion	Light lotion	Rich cream
Niacinamide position	4th	Present	Not in formula
Best for	All skin types at night	Daytime with protection	Dry skin, face and body

The clean pairing for most people here: AM lotion or a dedicated sunscreen in the morning, the CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion at night, and the Moisturizing Cream on the body or on the face in winter if the lotion stops being enough.

Why a Light Lotion Suits This Climate

Most skincare advice online is written for temperate, dry climates where a rich night cream makes sense. Dhaka is not that.

In high humidity, a heavy occlusive cream sits on the skin, mixes with sweat and sebum overnight, and for oily and combination skin can contribute to congestion. A light, oil-free lotion delivers the same barrier lipids without the weight. That is the practical case for the CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion over a traditional night cream for nine months of the year here.

In winter, or in a heavily air-conditioned bedroom, the calculation changes. Skin that feels tight in the morning wants something richer — layer a few drops of a facial oil over the top, or switch to a cream for those months.

Texture and Feel

The CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion is thin, white and almost runny from the pump. It spreads with very little effort and sinks in within thirty to forty seconds, leaving a matte-satin finish and no tackiness. Nothing sits on top of the skin by morning.

No scent whatsoever, no cooling, no tingle. The CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion is a deliberately uneventful product to use, which is exactly what a nightly moisturiser should be.

The pump dispenses a consistent dose and keeps the formula sealed. It is a better format than a jar for a product used every single night.

What to Expect, and When

The CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion is a moisturiser, not a treatment, so the timeline is short and honest.

Night one: skin feels soft and comfortable in the morning rather than tight. That is the whole promise of the CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion, and it delivers it immediately.
Weeks 1–2: if your barrier was compromised by over-cleansing or actives, flaking and tightness settle down.
Weeks 4–8: the niacinamide may begin to even out redness and tone slightly. Modest, gradual, and easy to miss without a photo.
Never: it will not clear acne, fade established pigmentation, or replace a treatment serum. Anyone claiming otherwise for a moisturiser is selling.

If skin still feels tight in the morning after a fortnight, the CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion is not the wrong product — it is the wrong weight for your skin or your season. Layer over it rather than replacing it.

Building a Night Routine Around It

The CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion is a sealing step, so everything else goes before it.

The simple version

Cleanse, then the CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion. Two steps. For skin with no specific concern, that is a complete and perfectly respectable night routine, and it beats a six-step routine done inconsistently.

With actives

Cleanse, toner if you use one, retinol or acid on its assigned nights, wait a few minutes, then the CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion over the top. The ceramides and niacinamide are doing recovery work while the active does its job.

For very dry skin in winter

Cleanse, hydrating toner, serum, then the CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion, then a few drops of facial oil or a thin layer of a richer cream pressed over the top. Light first, heavy last.

What does not belong in the same routine: a second moisturiser applied underneath, a heavy occlusive balm on oily skin, or three actives on the same night. The most common cause of a “bad reaction” to any product is the four other things applied with it.

Against a Serum Plus a Basic Moisturiser

A reasonable alternative is a separate niacinamide serum plus a cheap moisturiser. It is worth comparing honestly rather than assuming the branded option wins.

A 10% niacinamide serum delivers considerably more niacinamide than the CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion does. If a high dose of niacinamide is specifically what you are after — for oil control or pigmentation — the serum route is stronger, and a basic moisturiser over it will cost less than this bottle.

What you lose going that way is the ceramide system. A cheap moisturiser is usually glycerin, an emulsifier and an occlusive, with no barrier lipids at all. The CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion is delivering ceramides, cholesterol and phytosphingosine in the same step, and for a compromised barrier that combination matters more than the niacinamide percentage.

Our position: for barrier repair, one bottle of the CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion beats a serum plus a basic cream. For targeted niacinamide work, buy a dedicated serum and use it underneath this instead of instead of it.

Is It Worth the Money?

An 89ml bottle at one to two pumps a night runs two to three months. Judged per month rather than per bottle, the CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion sits in the middle of the market for a fragrance-free ceramide moisturiser, and below most K-beauty barrier creams of comparable formulation.

What you are paying for is ingredient position rather than a long list of extras. Twenty-four ingredients, niacinamide fourth, three ceramides seventh to ninth, nothing decorative. Plenty of cheaper moisturisers contain the same named ingredients at trace level and read identically on the front of the box.

Where we would not push it: if your skin is comfortable, uncomplicated and you already use a ceramide moisturiser you like, the CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion is not a meaningful upgrade. Buy sunscreen instead — it is the step almost everyone in Bangladesh under-buys, and it will do far more for your skin than switching night moisturisers.

Common Mistakes

Using it in the morning expecting sun protection. There is no SPF. This is the single most costly mix-up with this product.
Applying it before a retinol. It buffers the active. Retinol first, then this.
Using half the bottle at once. One to two pumps covers face and neck. It is a lotion, not a mask.
Expecting it to treat acne. It is non-comedogenic and won’t make things worse, but there is no acne active in it.
Writing it off as “too light”. Weight and effectiveness are not the same thing. The ceramide and niacinamide content here beats plenty of heavier creams.
Skipping it because you have oily skin. Oily skin is frequently dehydrated skin. Oil-free hydration is exactly what it needs.

Warnings and Precautions

For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes. Discontinue if irritation occurs. Patch test on the inner forearm for two days before first facial use if your skin is reactive.

There is no fragrance, no essential oil, no botanical extract and no exfoliating acid in the CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion, which makes a reaction unlikely — but “unlikely” is not “impossible”, and a patch test costs nothing.

What CeraVe Does Not Publish

No concentrations for the niacinamide, the ceramides or the hyaluronic acid, and no country of manufacture on the official product page. Anyone quoting you a niacinamide percentage for this product is guessing. Ingredient order is the only verifiable signal, which is why this page leans on it throughout.

Storage, Shelf Life and the Pump

The CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion ships in an opaque pump bottle made of recycled plastic, and the pump is a meaningful choice rather than a cosmetic one. Niacinamide and ceramides are stable ingredients, but any product used nightly for three months benefits from a dispenser that keeps fingers and air out of the formula. A jar of the same lotion would be a worse product.

Store it capped, upright, at room temperature. Keep it off a windowsill and out of a bathroom that gets steamy for an hour every evening — heat and moisture are harder on a formula than time is. A bedside drawer is ideal, and it also makes the nightly habit easier to keep, which matters far more to your results than storage ever will.

Once opened, follow the period-after-opening symbol on the carton. At normal use a bottle is finished well inside that window, so it is rarely the limiting factor.

If the lotion separates, changes colour or smells different, stop using it. That is unusual for this kind of formula and almost always means it has been stored somewhere far too hot.

A Note on What We Left Out

CeraVe’s marketing assets for this product include a claim about hydrating skin to a specific depth, and a “number one brand” line. We have not reproduced either.

The first is a quantified claim we cannot verify from the official product page, and we do not republish numbers we have not been able to check. The second is a market-share statement about the brand rather than a fact about the bottle in your hand, and absolute superlatives are not something this store puts on a product page.

Everything else on this page — the ingredient list, the positions, the directions, the free-from claims — comes straight from CeraVe’s own published information, and you can check it against the link at the bottom.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion contain SPF?

No. It is a night product. The AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion is the version with sunscreen.

Can I use it in the morning?

You can, but you must apply sunscreen over it. It offers no sun protection of its own.

How much niacinamide is in it?

CeraVe does not publish a percentage. What is verifiable is its position: fourth of twenty-four ingredients, which is high.

Is it good for oily skin?

Yes. Oil-free, non-comedogenic and light. It is one of the better options for oily skin that is also dehydrated.

Can I use it with retinol?

Yes, and it is a strong pairing. Apply the retinol first, then this over the top.

Is it enough on its own in winter?

For many people, no. If your skin feels tight in the morning, layer something richer over it or switch to a cream for those months.

How long does 89ml last?

One to two pumps nightly, roughly two to three months.

Can teenagers use it?

Yes. It is fragrance-free, oil-free and non-comedogenic, which makes it a sensible first moisturiser.

Is it safe in pregnancy?

There is no retinoid and no salicylic acid in it. Check with your doctor about anything you are unsure of.
