Medicube’s US listing quietly acknowledges this: over there the same product is sold as the Collagen Niacinamide Jelly Cream. The Korean box says collagen. The American box says collagen and niacinamide. The formula has always been mostly the second one.

Why the Medicube Collagen Jelly Cream is not a scam

Because the numbers are published. Medicube filed 10 ppm, 9.81 ppm and 0.001 ppm in a public regulatory document that anybody can read, and the vast majority of brands would simply have written “collagen complex” and left it there.

There is also a real physical limit at work. Collagen is a very large molecule and topical collagen does not cross into the dermis to become your own collagen. No cream does that. What topical collagen actually does is sit on the surface as a humectant and film-former, holding water. At 10 ppm it is not doing even that to any meaningful degree, but the ceiling on what it could do was low to begin with.

In the Medicube Collagen Jelly Cream, fragrance is declared at position 23. That is unusual across the Medicube range we have read, where most products carry no perfume entry at all.

It is not a fault by itself. Plenty of people want their moisturiser to smell like something. But if you came to Medicube because the PDRN serums and the capsule creams are fragrance-free, this jar breaks that pattern and you should know before you open it.

Niacinamide at 9 is a real placement. Squalane at 35 is a good emollient. The humectant base — propanediol, dipropylene glycol, butylene glycol, trehalose, glycerin — is well built and does the water-holding work the collagen is credited with.

There is also a coherent antioxidant tail: tocopherol at 30, green tea seed at 41, blueberry at 46, tomato at 44, broccoli at 40. None of them are at heroic levels, but they are a sensible group rather than random botanicals.

The filing names COSMAX as the manufacturer and APR Corp as the responsible seller. COSMAX is the largest cosmetics ODM in the world and makes product for a very long list of brands you would recognise.

Two things.

The first is the name. Niacinamide is at 9 and collagen is at 26, 27 and 34 in parts per million. Medicube’s own US market already sells this as the Collagen Niacinamide Jelly Cream, which is closer to the truth. The Korean name should say the same thing.

The second is the fragrance. This jar sits in a range that is otherwise almost entirely fragrance-free, and adding perfume to the one product most likely to be used twice daily on the whole face is an odd choice for a brand whose customers largely came for gentle formulas.

Neither stops it being a good moisturiser. The Medicube Collagen Jelly Cream is a pleasant, well-built water-gel with a real dose of niacinamide, sold under a name that describes the smallest thing in the jar.
