What Skin Cafe Makeup Cleansing Oil Is

Skin Cafe Makeup Cleansing Oil Advanced is a 120 ml oil-based first cleanser. You use it on dry skin, before water touches your face, to break down sunscreen, makeup and the day’s sebum. Then you rinse and follow with your usual face wash.

It is made in Bangladesh by Skin Cafe, and the whole formula is six ingredients: olive oil, a solvent, an emulsifier, a preservative, vitamin E and fragrance. There is nothing hidden in it.

Why Oil Removes Sunscreen When Water Cannot

This is basic chemistry, and understanding it changes how you clean your face.

Like dissolves like. Modern sunscreens are built to survive sweat and humidity — that is the entire point. Their UV filters sit in oils, silicones and film-formers that water simply cannot lift. The same is true of long-wear foundation, waterproof mascara and most of what stays on your face through a Dhaka afternoon.

A foaming face wash uses surfactants, which pull at oil but do not dissolve it. You end up scrubbing harder, stripping your barrier, and still leaving a film behind.

An oil cleanser dissolves that film directly, because it is chemically similar to it. It is not a gentler face wash — it is a different tool doing a job a face wash cannot do.

The Double Cleanse, Explained Properly

“Double cleansing” sounds like marketing for selling two products. It is not — it is two different jobs.

Step one, oil: dissolves everything oil-soluble. Sunscreen, makeup, sebum, pollution particles held in that layer.

Step two, water-based wash: removes everything water-soluble. Sweat, dust, and the residue of the oil cleanser itself.

Do you always need both? No. If you wore no sunscreen and no makeup, one gentle wash is enough. But if you are wearing SPF daily — and you should be — then you need something that removes it properly every night. Leaving sunscreen on overnight is a reliable way to produce congestion and clogged pores.

Pair it with our cleanser range for the second step.

The Olive Oil Base

Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil is the first ingredient and the bulk of the formula.

Olive oil is a traditional cleansing oil for good reason — it is effective at dissolving makeup, it is widely available, and it is cheap enough to keep the finished product affordable. It is rich in oleic acid, a fatty acid that spreads easily and feels rich on the skin.

That richness has a flip side, which we will get to under fungal acne. For most people with normal, dry or combination skin, an olive-oil cleanser is comfortable and does the job.

Isopropyl Myristate — the Honest Caveat

Second on the list is isopropyl myristate. It is an ester that thins the oil, makes it spread easily, and is genuinely good at dissolving stubborn makeup — it is one of the workhorses of makeup removal.

It also has a reputation for being comedogenic. On the old comedogenicity scales it rates high, and some people with congestion-prone skin do react to it.

The fair reading: those ratings came from rabbit-ear testing on pure ingredients, which does not translate cleanly to a rinse-off product used for sixty seconds and washed away. Plenty of people with acne-prone skin use isopropyl myristate cleansers without issue.

But if you are prone to closed comedones on the forehead and chin and cannot work out why, this is a reasonable ingredient to suspect. We would rather tell you that now than have you buy it twice.

Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate and Why It Rinses Clean

Third on the list is the ingredient that stops this being a greasy mess.

Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate is an emulsifier. When you add water, it lets the oil and water combine into a milky emulsion that rinses away instead of smearing. That white, milky turn you see when you wet your hands is the emulsifier working.

This is the difference between a proper cleansing oil and just rubbing kitchen oil on your face. Without an emulsifier, the oil dissolves your makeup and then stays on your skin along with everything it dissolved.

Vitamin E and Parfum

Tocopheryl Acetate is a stable form of vitamin E. In a formula like this it does two jobs — a mild antioxidant benefit for the skin, and protection for the oils themselves, which would otherwise go rancid faster.

Phenoxyethanol is the preservative, used at low levels and one of the better-tolerated options available.

Parfum is the last ingredient, and it deserves a plain flag: this product is not fragrance-free. Fragrance is one of the more common causes of contact reactions in cosmetics. In a rinse-off product the exposure is brief and most people are fine, but if you have reactive skin or a known fragrance sensitivity, this is not the cleansing oil for you.

If You Have Fungal Acne, Read This

This section will cost us some sales, and it belongs here anyway.

Fungal acne — properly, Malassezia folliculitis — is not bacterial acne. It is an overgrowth of a yeast that lives on everyone’s skin. It shows up as small, uniform, itchy bumps, often on the forehead, chest or upper back, and it does not respond to normal acne treatment.

Malassezia feeds on fatty acids in a certain chain-length range, and olive oil sits squarely in that range. An olive-oil-based cleanser is not fungal-acne-safe.

If that describes your skin, do not buy this one. A mineral-oil or ester-based cleansing balm is the safer choice, and we would rather point you there than sell you something that makes your skin worse.

Made in Bangladesh

Skin Cafe Makeup Cleansing Oil is manufactured locally, and that is worth stating plainly for two reasons.

The first is price. A comparable imported Korean or Japanese cleansing oil lands here at three to five times this. Import duty, freight and distributor margin all sit on top of the product cost. Local manufacture strips most of that out, which is how a functional cleansing oil reaches this price point at all.

The second is honesty about what you are getting. This is a straightforward, well-built basic. It is not a luxury cleansing balm with botanical extracts and a designed sensory experience. It removes sunscreen and makeup properly, rinses clean, and costs little. For a first cleanser — a product you use for sixty seconds and wash off — that is arguably where your money should go.

Who Skin Cafe Makeup Cleansing Oil Suits

Good for normal, dry and combination skin. Good for anyone wearing daily sunscreen who currently removes it with a face wash alone — which is most people, and the single most common gap in a Bangladeshi routine. Good for makeup wearers. Good as a first cleansing oil, because the price makes it a low-risk way to find out whether double cleansing suits you.

Not for you if you have fungal acne, a fragrance sensitivity, or a known reaction to isopropyl myristate. Those three exclusions are real, and they are on the label rather than buried.

How to Use Skin Cafe Makeup Cleansing Oil

Shake the bottle before use.
Take 3–4 drops onto dry hands. Hands and face must both be dry — this is the step people get wrong.
Massage gently over the dry face for 30–60 seconds. Work over eye makeup and sunscreen without scrubbing.
Add a little water and keep massaging until the oil turns milky. That is the emulsion forming.
Rinse thoroughly with water.
Follow with your normal face wash, pat dry, and moisturise.

Three Mistakes People Make With Cleansing Oil

Starting with a wet face. Water blocks the oil from reaching the makeup and sunscreen underneath. Dry hands, dry face, every time.
Skipping the emulsification step. If you rinse straight from oil to water without massaging in a little water first, the oil does not lift cleanly and you are left with a film. That film is what people mistake for “cleansing oil breaks me out”.
Skipping the second cleanse. Oil cleansing is step one of two. On its own it leaves residue.

Who Actually Buys Skin Cafe Makeup Cleansing Oil

Three groups get the most out of Skin Cafe Makeup Cleansing Oil, and it is worth seeing whether you are one of them.

The daily sunscreen wearer. If you have committed to SPF every morning, Skin Cafe Makeup Cleansing Oil is the product that makes that habit sustainable without congestion. This is the largest group and the clearest case.

The person switching from wipes. Makeup wipes drag at the skin, leave residue, and are the worst common option for removal. Moving from wipes to Skin Cafe Makeup Cleansing Oil is one of the cheapest meaningful upgrades available in a routine.

The curious beginner. Double cleansing gets recommended constantly, and imported cleansing oils make it an expensive experiment. At this price, Skin Cafe Makeup Cleansing Oil lets you find out whether the step suits you before spending real money.

When Not to Use Skin Cafe Makeup Cleansing Oil

A few situations where skipping it is the right call, beyond the ingredient exclusions above.

On a bare face. If you wore no sunscreen and no makeup, one gentle wash is enough. Oil cleansing a clean face adds nothing.

On broken or actively inflamed skin. Massaging any cleanser over open, weeping or badly irritated skin is not helpful. Let it settle first.

In the morning. Skin Cafe Makeup Cleansing Oil is a night product. There is nothing to dissolve when you wake up, and starting the day by stripping oils works against you.

Reading the Price Honestly

At this price it is fair to ask what you are giving up compared with an imported cleansing oil at three times the cost.

What you give up is the extras — botanical infusions, a designed scent, a more elegant texture, and in some cases a fungal-acne-safe ester base. Those are real differences and some people will want them.

What you do not give up is the actual function. Dissolving sunscreen and emulsifying cleanly are jobs that olive oil, an ester solvent and a decent emulsifier do perfectly well. For a product that is on your face for sixty seconds and then goes down the drain, Skin Cafe Makeup Cleansing Oil covers the part that matters.

Cleansing Oil vs Balm vs Micellar Water

Three products claim the same first-cleanse slot, and they are not equivalent.

Format	Best at	Weakness
Cleansing oil	Dissolving sunscreen and makeup; rinses off completely	Needs a proper emulsify-and-rinse technique
Cleansing balm	Same job, less mess, travels well	Costs more per use; jar hygiene
Micellar water	Quick, no rinse needed	Weakest on modern water-resistant sunscreen; leaves surfactant residue if not rinsed

For daily sunscreen removal in this climate, an oil or a balm does the job properly and micellar water often does not. Skin Cafe Makeup Cleansing Oil is the cheapest way into that habit.

Why This Matters More If You Wear Sunscreen Daily

There is a pattern we see constantly: someone starts wearing sunscreen properly, and six weeks later their skin is more congested than before. They conclude the sunscreen is breaking them out and stop.

Usually the sunscreen is not the problem. Removal is. A modern sunscreen is engineered to resist water and sweat for hours — that resistance does not switch off at your bathroom sink. Rinsing with a foaming wash leaves a film, and that film sits in your pores overnight, every night.

Adding an oil cleanser as step one fixes it without giving up the sunscreen. If you have been blaming your SPF, try changing how you take it off before you change what you put on.

Using Skin Cafe Makeup Cleansing Oil in Humid Weather

Two adjustments help in Dhaka’s climate.

First, sweat and sebum build up faster here, so the oil has more to dissolve. Give it the full sixty seconds rather than a quick ten-second pass — the massage is what does the work, not the amount of product.

Second, in very humid weather skin often feels “clean enough” after rinsing, and people skip the second cleanse. Do not. Humidity makes the surface feel fresher than it is, and residue from step one is exactly what causes the congestion people blame on the oil.

Through the dry season the opposite applies: if your skin feels tight after double cleansing, the problem is your second cleanser being too harsh, not this one.

How Long a Bottle Lasts

At 3–4 drops per use, once a night, a 120 ml bottle of Skin Cafe Makeup Cleansing Oil runs for several months. That works out to a very low cost per night for the step that protects everything else in your routine.

The comparison worth making is not against other cleansing oils — it is against the cost of the sunscreen and serums you are trying to use properly. If a cheap first cleanser is what makes a daily SPF habit sustainable, it has paid for itself several times over.

What to Expect from Skin Cafe Makeup Cleansing Oil

Stage	What you should notice
During use	Sunscreen and makeup dissolve within 30–60 seconds of massaging
On rinsing	Turns milky, rinses without a greasy film
After the second cleanse	Skin feels clean but not tight — tightness means the second cleanser is too harsh
Week 2–4	Fewer clogged pores and blackheads if you were previously leaving sunscreen on

An honest limit: Skin Cafe Makeup Cleansing Oil is a cleanser. It does not treat acne, fade marks or hydrate. Its entire job is removing what is on your face so the products that do treat things can work.

Storing Skin Cafe Makeup Cleansing Oil

Keep the bottle capped and away from direct sunlight and heat. Oils oxidise, and heat speeds that up — a bottle on a sunny bathroom shelf will turn faster than one in a cupboard.

Follow the printed expiry and the period-after-opening symbol. If the oil smells sharp or rancid rather than neutral, replace it.

Will it remove waterproof mascara?

Mostly, with a gentle massage over closed eyes. Very heavy waterproof formulas may need a second pass.

Is it fungal acne safe?

No. The olive oil base feeds Malassezia. Choose a mineral-oil or ester-based cleanser instead.

Does it contain fragrance?

Yes — Parfum is on the ingredient list. Avoid it if you are fragrance-sensitive.

Can men use it?

Yes, and the brand markets it for all skin types. Anyone wearing sunscreen benefits from a first cleanser.
