What the Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 is

The Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 is a 30 ml dropper bottle of light green serum. It is not a smaller version of the Serum 30 — it is a different formula, and in several respects a more aggressive one.

The bottle is printed with two figures: niacinamide 10 percent, and Vita ACE Complex 12 percent. That is where the 12 in the name comes from. It is fragrance-free and it carries Korea’s dual functional certification for whitening and wrinkle improvement.

Most shops will tell you the 30 is the strong one and the 12 is the starter size. Having read both ingredient lists against Arencia’s Korean legal filings, we do not think that is right, and we will show you why.

The niacinamide figure is on the pack, and it is the second ingredient

Niacinamide 10 percent is printed on the bottle by Arencia — not claimed by a retailer. And in the ingredient list, niacinamide sits at position two, directly after water.

That is unusually high and it is entirely consistent with a 10 percent concentration. For comparison, the Holy Hyssop Serum 30 has niacinamide at position six, and Arencia does not print a percentage on that jar at all.

So on the one product where the brand commits to a number, the Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 backs it up with ingredient position. Credit where it is due — this is the clearest active disclosure we have found anywhere in the range.

The Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 Vita ACE Complex still contains no vitamin A

And then there is the other half of the label. Vita ACE means vitamins A, C and E. The Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 contains four forms of vitamin C, one form of vitamin E, and no vitamin A whatsoever.

There is no retinol, no retinal, no retinyl palmitate or acetate, no beta-carotene — nothing in the forty-four-ingredient list that is a vitamin A compound or converts into one. We checked Arencia’s Korean legal ingredient filing, which the law requires them to publish in full.

This is not a one-off. The Holy Hyssop Serum 30 makes the same Vita ACE claim with the same absence. It is a range-wide problem, printed on the bottle, and one retailer even describes the complex as containing “high concentrations of vitamins A, C and E”.

Buy the Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 for the niacinamide, which is real and disclosed. The A in ACE is not there.

Three brightening actives in the Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12, not one

This is the real argument for the Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12, and it is not the argument the marketing makes.

Niacinamide, second

Korea’s approved whitening active, printed at 10 percent, sitting directly after water. It works on uneven tone, post-acne marks and barrier function, and it is one of the best-evidenced ingredients in skincare.

Arbutin, fifth

A tyrosinase inhibitor for dark spots. The Holy Hyssop Serum 30 does not contain it at all. The Red Smoothie Serum does, at position four.

Kojic acid, twenty-second

A second tyrosinase inhibitor, and the one neither of the other two serums contains. It is lower in the list, so expect a supporting role rather than a lead one, but its presence makes this the most complete pigmentation formula Arencia sells.

Three brightening agents working on the same pathway from different angles is a sound approach. If dark spots are the reason you are shopping, the Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 is the one to buy.

Here are the five Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 peptides

Retailer listings across this range advertise five types of peptides. On the Red Smoothie Serum that claim is not supported — that formula contains one. On the Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 it is accurate.

Acetyl hexapeptide-8, copper tripeptide-1, palmitoyl pentapeptide-4, oligopeptide-1 and oligopeptide-2. Five named peptides, exactly as advertised.

The caveat is position. They occupy places thirty-eight, thirty-nine, forty-two, forty-three and forty-four of forty-four — the last five slots in the formula, well below the one percent line. Copper tripeptide-1 and palmitoyl pentapeptide-4 have decent research behind them at working concentrations. Whether they are at working concentrations here, Arencia has not said.

So: the count is honest, the placement is not flattering. Buy this serum for the niacinamide at position two, and treat the peptides as a bonus you cannot verify.

The hyssop is at 100 ppm

Hyssopus officinalis extract is declared at 100 ppm — one hundredth of one percent, at position twenty-one of forty-four.

For context, that is actually the highest hyssop concentration Arencia has declared on any product we stock. The Blue Hyssop cleanser declares 1.05 ppm. The Holy Hyssop Serum 30 declares nothing at all.

It is still 0.01 percent of the bottle, and it is still not why the Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 works. Eight products into this range, the pattern has not broken once: the ingredient on the front of the pack is never the ingredient doing the work.

The unusual botanicals

Yam root, lotus root, okra, molokhia leaf and ashitaba occupy positions thirty-two to thirty-six. They are mucilage-rich plants used in Korean and Japanese formulation for slip and surface hydration. Low in the list, pleasant in the texture, not the reason to buy.

Why the numbers on Korean serums confuse everyone

Two different kinds of percentage appear on skincare packaging and they are not comparable. Learning to tell them apart will save you money on every serum you buy from here on, not just this one.

An active percentage names one ingredient and states how much of it is in the bottle. “Niacinamide 10%” is an active percentage. It is checkable against the ingredient list, because an ingredient present at ten percent has to sit near the top. Niacinamide is second here, so the claim holds up.

A complex percentage names a blend the brand invented and states how much of that blend is in the bottle. “Vita ACE Complex 12%” is a complex percentage. It tells you nothing about any individual ingredient, because the brand decides what goes in the complex and in what ratio. A complex can be mostly water, mostly glycerin, or mostly one cheap extract.

Both numbers are printed in the same size on the front of the Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12. Only one of them is a fact you can verify.

This is why the 12 and the 30 are not strengths. Arencia’s Red Smoothie Serum 30 uses the same trick with a “30% Red Collagen Complex” whose collagen is declared at 0.13 ppm. The complex percentage is high and the ingredient inside it is vanishing. Those two facts sit together comfortably, which is precisely the problem.

Our rule, and we would suggest you adopt it: ignore any percentage attached to a word the brand made up. Look for percentages attached to ingredient names you can find in the INCI list, and check where they sit.

Serum 12 or Serum 30 — the honest comparison

These two products confuse almost everybody, including the shops selling them. The numbers are not strengths. They are the percentage of the Vita ACE Complex, and they tell you nothing about the actives that matter.

Here is what actually separates them.

• Niacinamide. Second ingredient here, printed at 10 percent on the bottle. Sixth ingredient in the Serum 30, with no percentage printed anywhere.
• Brightening actives. This has niacinamide, arbutin and kojic acid. The Serum 30 has niacinamide only.
• Peptides. Five here. None in the Serum 30.
• Hyaluronic acid. Eight forms in the Serum 30. One here.
• Format. 30 ml dropper bottle here. 50 g jelly jar for the Serum 30.

Now the part most shops will not put in writing. The Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 costs about sixty-three taka per millilitre. The Serum 30 costs about forty taka per gram. You are paying roughly fifty percent more per unit for the smaller bottle.

That is the trade. The Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 is the better formula for pigmentation and the worse deal on volume. If dark spots are your priority, it is worth the premium. If you want hydration and glow and the biggest jar for the money, the Serum 30 is the better buy — and we would rather tell you that than sell you the wrong one.

How to use the Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12

1. Cleanse, then apply toner or essence and leave the skin slightly damp.
2. Dispense three to four drops into your palm or straight onto the face.
3. Spread thinly and pat with your fingertips until absorbed. Do not rub.
4. Wait a minute before the next layer.
5. Follow with moisturiser, and sunscreen every single morning.

Ten percent niacinamide is a meaningful dose. If you have never used niacinamide above about five percent, start every other night for the first two weeks and build up. Some people flush at ten percent. It usually settles; if it does not, this is not the serum for you.

Layering the Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 with other actives

There is no acid in this formula despite the kojic acid name — kojic acid is a tyrosinase inhibitor, not an exfoliant, and it does not behave like an AHA or BHA on the skin.

It layers comfortably with hyaluronic acid, ceramides and moisturisers. With retinoids, run them on alternate nights at first: niacinamide at ten percent plus a retinoid plus four vitamin C derivatives is a lot for one evening.

Do not use the Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 alongside the Serum 30 or the Red Smoothie Serum. All three are niacinamide products occupying the same step. Pick one.

Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 shelf life and how long a bottle lasts

Arencia’s Korean filing gives three years from manufacture and six months after opening. Made in Korea by Minu Story for Arencia. All skin types.

Three to four drops nightly puts a 30 ml bottle at roughly two to three months, so you will finish it inside the six-month window without trying. That is one practical advantage of the smaller size over the 50 g jar, which is easy to leave half-used past its opened life.

Four vitamin C derivatives mean this will oxidise. Keep the Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 out of direct light and out of a hot bathroom. If the green deepens or the smell turns sharp, stop using it.

How the Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 suits this climate

Very well. It is a light, water-based serum with no oils, so it sits comfortably under sunscreen in Dhaka humidity where a cream would not.

The pigmentation case is stronger here than anywhere else we could sell this. Year-round strong sun drives melanin production continuously, and post-acne marks fade far more slowly in this climate than in a grey one. A three-active brightening serum is doing real work — provided it is paired with daily sunscreen. Without that, you are treating pigmentation while continuing to cause it.

From December, layer a moisturiser over it rather than switching away.

Who the Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 suits

Good fit: dark spots, post-acne marks, melasma-type uneven tone, dullness, early fine lines, oily and combination skin, and anyone who reacts to fragrance.

Poor fit: anyone who has flushed or stung on high-percentage niacinamide before, very dry skin needing oils and lipids in quantity, and anyone wanting a result in two weeks. Arbutin and kojic acid work over months.

If you are new to actives entirely, this is a strong starting point precisely because it is one bottle doing what three products usually do.

What 30 ml works out to per use

Three to four drops is roughly 0.4 ml, so a 30 ml bottle gives around seventy to seventy-five applications — about two and a half months used nightly.

That puts the Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 at roughly twenty-five taka per use. For a fragrance-free, dual-certified serum carrying niacinamide at a declared ten percent plus arbutin and kojic acid, we think that is fair. It is not the cheapest way to buy niacinamide, and if budget is the deciding factor there are single-active serums that cost less.

No. The numbers refer to the Vita ACE Complex percentage, not overall strength. On the actives that matter, this one is stronger: niacinamide second instead of sixth, plus arbutin and kojic acid that the Serum 30 does not contain.

Is there really no vitamin A in it?

Will 10 percent niacinamide irritate me?

It might at first. Ten percent is a high dose and flushing is common in the first two weeks. Start every other night. If it is still uncomfortable after a fortnight, stop.

Will the Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 lighten my skin?

No, and Korea’s whitening category does not mean that. 미백 covers fading dark spots and evening out tone. It does not change your natural complexion, and nothing sold as skincare should claim to.

Is the Arencia Holy Hyssop Serum 12 safe in pregnancy?
