Description
What the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum is
The Arencia Red Smoothie Serum 30 is a 50 g jar of thick, dark-red jelly that you scoop with a fingertip and pat into damp skin. It is not a dropper serum. The texture sits somewhere between a gel and a sleeping mask, and it goes on after essence and before moisturiser.
Arencia sells it as an anti-ageing serum for firmness and elasticity, built on what retailers describe as a 30 percent Red Collagen Complex. The jar itself is printed with the words “packed with collagen.”
Korean law requires Arencia to publish the concentration of that collagen, and they have. It is on their Korean listing, and it is the reason this page reads the way it does.

The Arencia Red Smoothie Serum collagen is at 0.13 ppm
Soluble collagen is the thirty-fourth ingredient of forty-three, and Arencia declares it at 0.13 ppm.
Nought point one three parts per million is 0.000013 percent. In the whole 50 g jar that works out to about 6.5 micrograms of collagen. A single grain of table salt weighs roughly sixty micrograms. The entire jar of the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum contains less collagen than a tenth of one grain of salt.
We have now listed six Arencia products and published a concentration for each named hero ingredient. The calendula was at 1 ppm. The hyssop at 1.05 ppm. The black tea at 10 ppm. This is 0.13 ppm — the lowest of all of them, in the product whose packaging makes the loudest ingredient claim.
We should be fair about one thing: topical collagen molecules are generally too large to penetrate skin anyway, so a higher figure would not have changed much. That is precisely the point. The collagen was never going to be the reason this serum works. Something else has to be.
Something else is, and it is genuinely good
Read past the marketing and the top of this ingredient list is strong. Niacinamide is the third ingredient. Arbutin is the fourth. Both sit above every botanical in the formula, and both are among the better-evidenced actives in skincare.
Niacinamide supports the skin barrier, helps with uneven tone and can reduce the look of pores. Arbutin is a tyrosinase inhibitor used for dark spots and pigmentation. At positions three and four, in a formula where water and glycerin are one and two, these are present in meaningful quantity.
That is the honest case for the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum. Buy it as a niacinamide and arbutin serum for tone and pigmentation. Do not buy it for the collagen.
The Arencia Red Smoothie Serum ingredient list — all forty-three
Transcribed from Arencia’s Korean legal listing, in label order, with every concentration they declared.
Water, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Arbutin, Propanediol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Butylene Glycol, Methylpropanediol, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Arginine, Gardenia Florida Fruit Extract (706 ppm), Ethylhexylglycerin, Dextrin, Adenosine, Polyglyceryl-10 Myristate, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Panax Ginseng Berry Extract (301 ppm), Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Fruit Extract (300 ppm), Ribes Nigrum (Black Currant) Fruit Extract (300 ppm), Inonotus Obliquus (Chaga Mushroom) Extract (300 ppm), Brassica Oleracea Acephala (Kale) Leaf Extract (300 ppm), PVM/MA Copolymer.
Saccharomyces/Rice Ferment Filtrate (127 ppm), Sodium Hyaluronate, Ferulic Acid, Beta Vulgaris (Beet) Root Extract, Vaccinium Vitis-Idaea (Lingonberry) Fruit Extract, Rosa Gallica Flower Extract, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Fruit Extract.
Hexapeptide-2, Soluble Collagen (0.13 ppm), Hydrolyzed DNA, Biotin, 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Ascorbic Acid, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Tocopherol, Panthenol, Pyridoxine.
There is no fragrance, no parfum and no essential oil anywhere in it. That makes this the second fragrance-free Arencia product we stock, alongside the Rice and LHA cleanser.
What the declared Arencia Red Smoothie Serum numbers tell you
Arencia published concentrations for eight ingredients. Read them together and the picture is clear.
- Gardenia fruit extract — 706 ppm, or 0.07 percent. The highest declared botanical.
- Ginseng berry extract — 301 ppm.
- Avocado, black currant, chaga mushroom and kale extracts — 300 ppm each.
- Yeast and rice ferment filtrate — 127 ppm.
- Soluble collagen — 0.13 ppm.
Add every declared botanical together and you are still well under a tenth of one percent of the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum. Whatever the “30” in the name refers to, Arencia’s own Korean product page does not define it, and these figures cannot add up to thirty percent of anything.

The Arencia Red Smoothie Serum five types of peptides claim
Retailer listings for this serum describe five types of peptides. The published ingredient list contains one named peptide: hexapeptide-2, at position thirty-three.
Soluble collagen and hydrolyzed DNA sit beside it and are sometimes counted loosely as peptide-adjacent, but they are not peptides, and the collagen is at 0.13 ppm regardless. We cannot find five. If Arencia is counting something we are not, they have not published what.
What else is worth knowing in the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum list
Adenosine, fifteenth
Adenosine is one of the ingredients Korea recognises for anti-wrinkle functional claims, and it sits reasonably high here. Of everything in the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum sold on an anti-ageing promise, this is the one with a regulatory basis behind it.
Four forms of vitamin C, all near the bottom
3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid, sodium ascorbyl phosphate, ascorbic acid and ascorbyl glucoside occupy positions thirty-six to thirty-nine. Four vitamin C derivatives stacked at the end of a list is a formulation pattern worth learning to spot: it lets a brand name four antioxidants without any one of them being present at a working concentration.
Ferulic acid and tocopherol
Both antioxidants, both low in the list. They are more likely there to protect the formula from oxidising than to do much for your skin.
Sodium hyaluronate, twenty-sixth
A humectant. It holds water at the surface, which is a real if modest benefit and part of why the texture feels the way it does.
Chaga mushroom, for the record
Inonotus obliquus is here at 300 ppm. We mention it because several retailers wrongly list chaga in Arencia’s Blue Hyssop cleanser, where it does not appear at all. This is the Arencia product that actually contains it.
What Arencia gets right, in fairness
We have spent a lot of this page taking the marketing apart, so it is worth saying plainly what the brand does better than most of its competitors.
Arencia publishes concentrations. Korean law requires it for certain ingredients, but plenty of brands disclose the bare minimum and no more. Arencia printed 0.13 ppm next to their own headline ingredient on a product with “packed with collagen” on the jar. That number was always going to be awkward for them and they published it anyway.
The formula behind the marketing is also better than the marketing deserves. Niacinamide third and arbutin fourth is a serious pairing that plenty of more expensive serums do not manage. Adenosine is there. There is no fragrance, no alcohol high in the list and no filler we would object to. Someone in that lab knew what they were doing.
Our complaint is not with the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum as a product. It is with a jar that sells itself on the one ingredient that cannot work, when the two ingredients that do work are sitting at the top of the list going unmentioned on the packaging.
How to read any ingredient list the way we just did
Three rules will let you do this yourself on any product, ours included.
First, ingredients are listed by weight down to one percent, and below that a brand can order them however it likes. Find where the one percent line falls and you know which half of the list matters.
Second, a declared ppm figure is a gift. One part per million is 0.0001 percent. Multiply it by the pack size to get the actual weight, and the marketing usually collapses on contact with that arithmetic.
Third, be suspicious of a “complex” with a percentage attached. A 30 percent complex tells you nothing about any individual ingredient inside it, and it is not the same claim as 30 percent of an active.
How to use the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum
- Cleanse, then apply toner or essence and leave the skin slightly damp.
- Scoop a pea-sized amount with a clean fingertip. Keep the jar dry.
- Spread it thinly across the face and pat with your fingertips until it absorbs. Do not rub.
- Wait a minute for the jelly to set before the next step.
- Follow with eye cream and moisturiser. In dry weather it needs an occlusive over it.
- Sunscreen every morning. Niacinamide and arbutin work on pigmentation, and pigmentation work without sun protection is wasted effort.
The Arencia Red Smoothie Serum can be used morning and night. Most people get on better with it at night, because the jelly can pill under sunscreen if you apply it too thickly.
Layering the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum with your other actives
Niacinamide and arbutin are both well tolerated and neither needs a rest day. The Arencia Red Smoothie Serum layers comfortably with hyaluronic acid, peptides, ceramides and most moisturisers.
Take more care with acids and retinoids. There is no acid in this serum, so there is no direct conflict, but arbutin and vitamin C derivatives on skin that is already being exfoliated can tip into irritation. If you use a retinoid, apply this on the alternate nights rather than the same one while you find out how your skin takes it.
If you are treating pigmentation seriously, the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum is a reasonable maintenance layer rather than the whole plan. Arbutin works slowly and needs months, not weeks.
Shelf life and how long an opened jar lasts
Arencia’s Korean listing gives three years from manufacture and six months after opening, made in Korea.
Six months is the number to plan around. A 50 g jar used once nightly lasts most people three to four months, so you should finish it comfortably inside the window. Used sparingly a few nights a week, it will not — and a jar of the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum with four different vitamin C derivatives in it is not something to keep half-used for a year. Vitamin C oxidises. If the colour darkens noticeably or the smell changes, stop.
Keep water out of the jar. A wet finger shortens that six months.

How the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum suits this climate
The jelly texture is well suited to Dhaka. It is water-based, it contains no oils, and it sits light on the skin in humidity where a cream would feel heavy. Through the summer it may be all the hydration a normal or oily skin needs before sunscreen.
In the drier months from December it will not be enough on its own. Layer a moisturiser over it rather than switching away from it.
The pigmentation angle matters here too. Strong sun drives melanin production, and a niacinamide and arbutin serum is fighting that every day it is not paired with sunscreen. We would rather you bought a good sunscreen first and this second, in that order, if the budget only stretches to one.
Who the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum suits
Good fit: uneven tone, dark spots and post-acne marks, dullness, early fine lines, oily and combination skin that wants hydration without oils, and anyone who reacts to fragranced products. The fragrance-free formula is a real advantage over most serums at this price.
Poor fit: very dry skin that needs oils and ceramides rather than a water jelly, anyone expecting the collagen to firm their skin, and anyone who wants fast results. Arbutin is a months-long ingredient.
Not suitable if you have had a reaction to niacinamide at higher concentrations. It is third in the list here, which means there is a real amount of it.

The Arencia Red Smoothie Serum against the rest of the range
This is the first serum we have listed from Arencia. It sits differently from their cleansers, which are all rinse-off products where contact time limits what anything can do.
- Rice + LHA Pore Control Cleanser 150g — the other fragrance-free product, with salicylic acid and LHA for congestion.
- Black Tea Rice Mochi Cleanser 120g — charcoal and kaolin, the strongest oil control of the jars.
- Calendula Rice Mochi Cleanser 120g — the gentlest cleanser in the range.
Pair the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum with whichever cleanser suits your skin. It does not compete with any of them.
What 50 g of the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum works out to per use
A pea-sized amount is roughly half a gram, so a 50 g jar gives around a hundred applications — three months at once nightly, or a little over one and a half months used twice daily.
That puts the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum a little under twenty taka per use. Against other niacinamide serums that is fair rather than cheap, and you are paying something for the jar, the jelly and the colour. Against what the collagen marketing implies you are getting, it is expensive. Which comparison you use is up to you, and now you have the figures for both.
Questions we get asked
Will the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum collagen firm my skin?
No. It is at 0.13 ppm, and topical collagen molecules are too large to penetrate skin regardless of concentration. Firmness claims built on topical collagen are a category-wide problem, not an Arencia one.
What does the 30 mean?
Retailers say a 30 percent Red Collagen Complex. Arencia’s Korean page does not define it, and the declared concentrations cannot support thirty percent. Arencia also sells a Red Smoothie Serum 8, so the number appears to be a line designation as much as anything.
Is the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum good for dark spots?
Yes, on its merits. Niacinamide third and arbutin fourth is a sound pairing for pigmentation, and it is the honest reason to buy this jar. Expect two to three months before you judge it, and wear sunscreen throughout.
Does the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum pill?
It can, if you apply too much or layer it under a heavy sunscreen too quickly. Use less and give it a minute to set.
Is the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum safe in pregnancy?
There is no retinoid, no salicylic acid and no fragrance in it. Arbutin is the ingredient people usually ask about in pregnancy. Ask your doctor rather than taking our word for it.
Is the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum vegan?
No. Soluble collagen and hydrolyzed DNA are animal-derived ingredients. This is the one Arencia product we stock that we would not describe as vegan.
Does the red colour stain?
It is a deep red jelly and it rinses off skin cleanly, but treat light-coloured pillowcases and towels with the same caution you would give any pigmented product.
How we store and ship the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum
Stock sits in air-conditioned storage in Dhaka until it goes out. Heat matters more for this product than for the cleansers, because vitamin C derivatives and botanical extracts degrade faster warm than cold.
Your jar is sealed when it leaves us and it is stock we imported ourselves, not a unit bought from another local seller and passed on. If it arrives damaged or the seal is broken, raise it with us the day it lands and we will replace it. At home, keep it out of the bathroom window light.
Where the Arencia Red Smoothie Serum fits in your routine
Cleanse, tone or essence, then this, then eye cream, then moisturiser, then sunscreen in the morning. It is a thin layer in the middle of a routine, not the centrepiece of one.
If you are building a routine from scratch, sunscreen and a cleanser come before a serum. The Arencia Red Smoothie Serum is a good third purchase, not a good first one.
